Hotel bed bug matters

Retained opinion work on bed bug claims arising from a hotel, motel or short-term rental stay, for either side of the caption.

What I review

  • Housekeeping, maintenance and guest-complaint records for the room and the rooms around it.
  • The property's pest control contract, service reports, inspection logs and treatment records.
  • Photographs, specimens and any lab or identification work already done.
  • The timeline: when the guest reported, when staff responded, what was done to the room, and when it was returned to service.

What I give an opinion on

  • Whether the evidence identifies bed bugs at all, and whether it identifies the species.
  • What the evidence says about where and when an infestation likely began, and how long it had been present.
  • What the property knew or should have known, read against the records it kept.
  • Whether the response, from the first report to the room's return to service, met the standard a reasonable property and its pest control provider follow.
